For intermediate and advanced practitioners developing projects through a broad understanding of contemporary drawing. Relationships with content, strategies, contexts and concept will be explored and shared. Courses will include group and individual critique. Self and instructor guided prompts will help each artist to contemplate their processes and complete new or existing drawing project/s. Interdisciplinary practices may be explored to allow the use of drawing as a bridge to other media and research. The Advanced course is best suited for those with a current drawing practice and the Intermediate course is best for those who have taken at least one introductory-level drawing course.

All sessions use studioELL’s online studio — a digital space that allows artists to come together and share their experiences. Weekly sessions will meet online on Wednesday, from 2-4PM using a synchronous modality over Zoom.

This course consists of individual and group meetings with the instructor to critique work and assess progress. Individual and group critique sessions promote and foster work and rapid progress by helping artists deepen their understanding of their artwork, creative process, ways-of-working and overall practice through focused weekly feedback. Enrolled artists present a statement of intent, quantifying expected output, topics of interest or a statement of goals at the first meeting. At the end of the term they will summarize their work in a final portfolio. This course is suited for any artist looking to individual studio discussions regardless of career or academic level.

All sessions use studioELL’s online studio — a digital space that allows artists to come together and share their experiences. Weekly sessions will meet online on Wednesday, from 10AM-12PM using a synchronous modality over Zoom.
