@HOME RESIDENCY 2026

studioELL is thrilled to announce the inclusion of Armando Olivera to the @HOME Residency Program.

studioELL’s @HOME Residency is a highly anticipated bi-annual artist residency offering artists a distinctive opportunity to immerse themselves in their own studio environment while receiving valuable critique and support from visiting artists and our studioELL team. The program also offers a glimpse into the artist studio as weekly progress is shared on studioELL’s website — studioELL.org. The residency will culminate in a final exhibition and artist lecture during the early fall months, providing an intimate look into the artistic journey throughout Melissa’s time in residence.

PRESS RELEASE

Armando Olivera is an artist whose work grows out of a lifelong experience of movement — between countries, cultures, and states of being. Through abstraction, he explores what it means to belong and how memory, migration, and the process of adaptation shapes who we are.

His work is a way of piecing together fragments of remembrance, sensation, and transformative outcomes to make sense of the spaces we have passed through. The process itself echoes the journey of locating home: tentative, layered, and continuously in motion.

Working with the materials is an ongoing conversation. Each mark, texture, and surface becomes a trace of that search — a way of grounding the self and inviting others to see something of their own reflection. His optimism rests in the work to create a shared space beyond borders or definitions where belonging feels fluid, open, and possible for everyone.
